Door of the Day Thursday, 8/27

This door is the tower part of the building in which Joan of Arc was tried, convicted and sentenced to burn at the stake.  When I look at this door, I wonder--did Joan of Arc walk through this door on her way to trial, or to be executed?  Was she held prisoner in this tower?

We'll never know.   Today's door is full of  mysteries!

  1. Aw, the mysteries of the Maid of Orleans. If you ever get a chance (perhaps while you are in France) to see the French movie "La passion de Jeanne d'Arc," I highly recommend it. It's a silent movie made in 1928 staring Maria Falconetti. One of the most powerful movies I've ever seen - also one of the most depressing. But it is a gift to see this amazing actress's performance. It's haunting and you won't forget it. On a cheerier note, I can hardly wait to hear where your next adventure will lead - have you heard any live French musicians yet ( rock band name..... "Dead People.") LOL

  2. I forgot to mention - keep your eye open for the Cafe de Flore. It's a very old cafe where Sartre and Beauvoir and other "famous" people congregated. It's suppose to be quite expensive, but another historial bohemian tourist spot. Have fun and if you find this place, you and Dave should order a beer (my treat). Enjoy!
